Acts 6:3 NCV “So, brothers and sisters, choose seven of your own men who are good, full of the Spirit and full of Wisdom”.
“If we are to choose does this mean to say that some of those in the church are not full of God’s Spirit, the Holy Spirit”? I read this question in a reference by Max Lucado in one of my favorite books, God’s Story, Your Story, I had to ponder this for a while?
Looking at myself I know there are days when I am not full of much of any spirit. I find myself short tempered with my husband over very little if anything at all. I don’t shine the light of the heavenly Father very well when I am at work. Somedays I just plain forget why I am here and become self-absorbed. I truly am that person I do not want to be. I truly am that person God has called me not to be!
So, I gather myself back up and take a long look in the mirror and try to find that person again that I am called to be! How is your spiritual barometer doing? Have you taken a look lately to see if you are full of God’s Spirit, the Holy Spirit, or are you just drifting along with the tides of life with little self-examination? Step forward with me toward that looking glass and let’s see what we need to do to wipe the grime off and truly let Christ’s light shine within us. It will be a wonderful journey of self-discovery, a journey closer to the light of Christ.
Blessings for the day, CSW
